Samp Women beaten by Sassuolo in relegation play-off opener

Sampdoria women started their Serie A relegation play-off on the wrong foot as they slipped to a 3-0 defeat away to Sassuolo.

Two early goals left the Blucerchiate with a mountain to climb and a third for the hosts soon after the restart put paid to any hopes of a comeback.

Defeat leaves Samp bottom but they will have the chance to leapfrog Como when they host the Lombard outfit next Saturday.
