Gunter: “Ready to give my all for Samp”
Koray Gunter said he believes Sampdoria can beat the drop despite the odds in his first interview since joining the club.
“It’s an honour for me to be here,” the German defender began. “I know all about this club and its history because Sampdoria are a big club.
“This team doesn’t deserve to be where it is right now but we have time to get ourselves out of this. I’m convinced we can do it by all pulling together.”
The 28-year-old is returning to Liguria after a brief spell at Genoa earlier in his career and he made it clear where his allegiances lie.
“Genoa was the first city I came to in Italy and I had no doubts about coming back here. I know Samp are the city rivals of my ex-team but I have no problem with that. I’ll give my very best for this shirt, this club and these fans.
The fans here are amazing, like the Verona fans. They’re our 12th man and and I hope they can help us in this difficult time.”
