Caputo: “I’m pleased with my brace”
A brace in Ciccio Caputo’s second appearance for Samp ensured the team took control of a potentially tricky away trip to Empoli. “I’m very pleased to have scored my first two goals, but, above all, to have got the win at a difficult ground,” stated the number 10 after the game at the Stadio Castellani. “It’s always a pleasure for me to come back to Empoli, but we wanted to win today and did well to achieve our target because it wasn’t an easy match.”
The connection with his team-mates and Fabio Quagliarella in attack is improving from day to day, as the forward explained: “I only arrived in Genoa recently. I had to quickly get to know my team-mates and understand the coach’s ideas. I’m pleased with how we’ve done so far. You can only learn from someone like Quagliarella. We’ve always scored goals and it was my turn today. Next time it’ll be Fabio’s.
“I don’t want to think about the national team at the moment. I want to do my best for this club. President Ferrero wanted me at all costs. He filled me with enthusiasm and it was impossible to turn down a historic club like Samp. I hope to score as many goals as possible.”
