Ekdal returns as Inter preparations begin

Sampdoria got back to training in Bogliasco on Tuesday as preparations for the home clash with Inter at 12:30 CEST on Sunday began. After two and a half days off, Roberto D’Aversa’s squad resumed training without Kristoffer Askildsen, Bartosz Bereszynski, Mikkel Damsgaard, Radu Dragusin, Morten Thorsby and Maya Yoshida, who are all currently on international duty.

The afternoon session took place on pitch one at the Mugnaini, with Albin Ekdal making an early return from his international call-up with Sweden after a back problem.

After intense fitness activation work, technical drills, possession work, small-sided games and aerobics were all on the agenda.

Mohamed Ihattaren spent some of the session with the squad, while Nicola Murru and Ernesto Torregrossa took part in high-intensity individual sessions out on the pitch.

Manolo Gabbiadini and Ronaldo Vieira continued with their tailored training regimes.

Another afternoon session is scheduled for Wednesday.
