Yoshida’s Japan draw with Spain ahead of Tokyo 2020

Maya Yoshida helped Japan U24 hold Spain to a 1-1 draw in their final warm-up match before the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

The match was played at Noevir Stadium in Kobe as part of the 2021 Kirin Challenge Cup.

Ritsu Doan opened the scoring for the hosts in the 42th minute, then Carlos Soler equalised for Spain 12 minutes from time.

Japan captain Maya Yoshida played the first half of the match, before being replaced by Ayumu Seko during the interval.

Japan are due to face South Africa in the opening game of the Olympics, on 22 July.
