Ranieri: “Tough win, now for a big performance against Sassuolo”
Claudio Ranieri hailed his team after they secured a 1-0 win over Crotone in a hard-fought contest on Wednesday night.
“It was a tough game,” said the Sampdoria boss, speaking after the match. “We knew Crotone weren’t going to lie down. They’d been in a training camp and they wanted to show character, which they did. We were very diligent and focused and then we pushed more in the second half. We have several shots and only scored once, but we got the win and that’s good.”
The result moves Sampdoria on to 42 points, enough to guarantee their Serie A status for another season, but Ranieri isn’t satisfied yet.
“We still have a few games left and we know we have some good teams up next, starting with Sassuolo on Saturday and followed by Roma and Inter,” he said. “We don’t want to let up because – as I’ve said – our target is to get to 52 points. Sassuolo have real quality and we’ll need a big performance if we’re to stop them.”
