Quagliarella sets yet more records

Captain Fabio Quagliarella never ceases to amaze us all. The Sampdoria forward scored his 95th goal for the club away to Bologna on Sunday, showcasing his remarkable talent in the process: timing, an eye for goal and that ruthlessness in the penalty area. It was the number 27’s ninth league goal of the campaign and it further cemented his position as the club’s top goalscorer this season. If the criteria are extended to Serie A goals for Doria, Quagliarella has now steered well clear of Adriano Bassetto and has his sights firmly set on Roberto Mancini at the top of the pile.

The 38-year-old racked up his 400th start in Serie A at the Dall’Ara, a milestone that only seven outfield players had reached before him in the era of three points for a win. The figures are simply astounding and there could well be plenty more to come yet.
