Candreva: “It was a strange match, the fine margins went against us”
Antonio Candreva was an extra attacking threat for Sampdoria in the 3-1 loss away to Bologna. The number 87 created so much, just like the rest of the side, although the scoreline unfortunately tells a different story. “It was a strange game today. The fine margins didn’t go our way. We produced a good performance against a side that’s made it tough for so many teams on their home patch. We feel disappointed because despite playing our game, we’re heading home without any points to show for it.”
It’s not easy to understand what didn’t work out there on the pitch, particularly when the statistics show that the Blucerchiati racked up 20 efforts on goal. “We lacked that ruthless streak and a bit of experience,” admitted the midfielder. “We’re a young side that is developing. It’s a defeat that we can take positives from for the future. The fine margins can make all the difference. We conceded a goal from a cross and another from the ball bobbling about. It’s a shame because we didn’t deserve to lose, it’s disappointing.”
