Ranieri: “Deserved win for an amazing group of players”
Claudio Ranieri was a delighted man after his side got back to winning ways with a fine 2-1 victory over Hellas Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi on Wednesday night.
“It was a deserved win against an excellent Verona side,” said the Doria boss after the game. “They run, they press and they’re determined, which makes what we’ve done all the more impressive. We were coming off the back of a draw in Turin and two 2-1 defeats – we’d always performed well, just not got the points. We’ve got them this time and I’m very happy.
“We always go at 100mph, but sometimes we’re too generous. Sometimes we run too much, but not smartly enough. We did it well this time. This is a victory for an amazing group that works hard and battles and that guided Sampdoria to safety last season. This is a victory for the players that saved us last season, showing a spirit of sacrifice and helping each other out. Now we focus on Crotone.”
