“We dropped off in the second half,” says Jankto
Jakub Jankto scored his third goal of the season against Napoli on Sunday but unfortunately the home side hit back to claim all three points at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
“It’s difficult for me to comment on this game. We did what we needed to in the first period, then we perhaps dropped off in terms of mentality and confidence,” he said after the match.
“We conceded two and then turning the match around, away at Napoli, was big ask. A team with a strong mentality cannot allow themselves to lose in this manner.”
On the goal he scored, Jankto commented: “We often try that move in training with Valerio Verre, who produced a great bit of play. I knocked the ball forward and, seeing that [Alex] Meret hadn’t rushed out I made the most of it and scored.”
“We’ve made too many mistakes in these last few games,” he continued. “We’ve had some poor moments but we mustn’t get too bogged down in bad luck – rather we need to play for 90, 100 minutes at our max.
“We now need to pick up points in every game, regardless of who we’re up against. We don’t want to end up in the situation we were in last year and to be playing catch-up.”
