Audero: “We responded well”
Emil Audero made three fantastic saves against Torino that allowed Sampdoria to leave Turin with a point. “We didn’t have a good first half,” admitted the goalkeeper, “but we went out there for the second half with a different attitude. We responded well, but it’s a shame we couldn’t hold on for the win. Given the way the game went, there could be a feeling that we dropped two points, but it was also important for us to get back on track and so I see it as a point gained.”
The shotstopper also discussed the substitutions during the contest. “As for making four changes at half-time, the message to the team was loud and clear: we had to give more than we had done in the first half. We had to rediscover our confidence. If we’d let our heads drop after going behind, we wouldn’t have got back into the game. We did respond well, however, and were good value for our two goals. We know where our strengths lie, but we’re working towards higher and higher targets. It’s normal for there to be highs and lows, but we will strike the right balance.”
