Chabot pleased to seize opportunity
Sampdoria had been waiting for one of their defenders to score since 7 October 2018 and luckily the moment arrived at the most crucial of times on Sunday against Parma. Julian Chabot’s goal – his first for almost two years – marked the start of his side’s thrilling comeback win.
Speaking after the match, the defender said: “I think today’s game was very important, for our league standing. We are very proud of our display. We knew we could turn it around even after not making a great in the first half.
“As a player, you’re always ready to step in. You never know when your chance will come.”
Meanwhile, when asked about his goal-scoring contribution, he added: “Of course I’m happy for my first goal but I don’t think it’s important who scores the goals – it’s only the three points that count.
“I’ve come to Italy to learn from the best. I think I can improve my game to the highest level.”
