Bonazzoli revels in Quagliarella comparisons after strike at Udinese
Federico Bonazzoli scored Sampdoria’s crucial second goal in their 3-1 win over Udinese on Sunday. It was a splendid effort that drew instant comparisons with the forward’s idol, team-mate and captain: Fabio Quagliarella.
“Fabio is a great player – we’ve got an excellent relationship. He gives me advice and shows me the right path. I can’t but learn from him,” Bonazzoli said.
“I’m pleased to have scored a goal in his way. We cheer each other on – playing as a pair in attack the connection is key.”
Commenting on his goal, a delightful overhead kick, he added: “My team-mates wind me up because I’m always trying it during the week – finally it paid off in a game.
“Is this my moment? I really hope so. When you’re young sometimes you’re overloaded with expectations, but I’ve matured and taken something from every experience I’ve had.
“I’m in one of the best spells of my life and career; I know it’s just a starting point but I’m happy. Until we reach safety, that’s our goal. Only then will we be happy. Personal and collective achievements can only come from hard work.”
