La Gumina: “It’s an honour to wear the Samp colours”

Antonino La Gumina is finally a Sampdoria player. Having come very close to joining the Blucerchiati in summer 2018, the forward is now finally part of Claudio Ranieri’s squad a year and a half down the line and spoke to Samp’s official media team about the move: “It’s now down to me to repay the club for its faith in me. Wearing this shirt was what I wanted. When the deal was done, I was a happy boy. Some top players have played here, which is further motivation for me to give my best.

“I knew Edgar Barreto from my time at Palermo and played for the U21s with Emil Audero and Fabio Depaoli,” stated the number 17. “They’re all incredible guys and they’re helping me settle into the group. Claudio Ranieri is a master. I’m trying to implement what he’s teaching me on the pitch to improve my movement. My message to the fans is that it’s an honour to be able to battle alongside them to try to achieve our common goal. They really impressed me when I was an opposition player and now having them on my side is fantastic.”
