Ranieri looks beyond defeat: “We’ll keep battling during tough moments”
Although Sampdoria were beaten at the Ferraris by Napoli, Claudio Ranieri was quick to overlook the negative result and stress his team’s impressive performance. “It was a shame to start like that, but we then came back into the game and recovered from two goals down against a top side that is getting back on track,” the coach told the club’s official media channel. “We maybe got a touch carried away in our attempts to score the third goal and ended up getting caught out towards the end. We’re certainly alive and will need to bounce back from this disappointment.”
The final result was down to a shaky start and a few defensive mistakes, as the boss explained: “When you make certain mistakes against top players, you end up paying dearly for them, so we’ll have to be even more focused. Unfortunately, I’ve once again been unable to make the changes that I wanted because injuries dictated our substitutions. We mustn’t be down about this. We’ll keep fighting and know that we’re doing some very good things, while there’s still plenty of room for improvement.”
