Ranieri sees the glass half full: “It was a good performance, one point is better than nothing”
Although Sampdoria were unable to unlock the Sassuolo defence on Sunday afternoon at the Marassi, Claudio Ranieri was keen to focus on the positives after securing a point against Roberto De Zerbi’s side. “The team gave its all. One point is fine if you can’t win the game,” stated the coach. “The performance was there and we had plenty of attempts on goal, but we lacked accuracy.”
“I must thank [Lorenzo] Tonelli for playing with the flu and also [Gaston] Ramirez who made his return today and wasn’t 100% fit. Sassuolo did hit the post and also had many dangerous counter-attacks, but we knew we were up against a very well-organised side. Now we need to focus on the next game against Napoli.”
