“We’re not out of danger,” Ranieri warns despite thrashing of Brescia
Sampdoria’s first home match of the new decade ended with a 5-1 win over Brescia, a crucial encounter given both sides’ league position.
Claudio Ranieri recognised the importance of the victory when he spoke after the game: “It’s one of those games that people often call six-pointers.
“When we conceded that early goal, it was a real cold shower for us. Nonetheless we managed to create chances and had lots of shots on goal, something like 28.
“The team was very astute, so credit to them. However, we’re not out of danger.
“This is what we needed. These three points are important, because we’ve got a tough trip coming up, away at Lazio.
“I like to play direct. That’s what we did today, and we need to keep on doing it.”
Meanwhile, on Vasco Regini, who returned to the starting line-up, the coach said: “Regini is symbolic of this dressing room. When I called upon him, he was ready. He’s the sort of player you need in every dressing room.”
