Ranieri: “Let’s enjoy the win – we showed heart and cold blood”
Fresh from the 1-0 win over Genoa, which preserved his personal record of never losing a derby at any club he’s managed, Claudio Ranieri heaped praise on his side and spoke of his happiness for the Doria faithful after the full-time whistle at Marassi on Saturday night.
“It’s wonderful – I’m absolutely delighted for our fans,” he began after the game. “It was a tough game. We had to play with heart and cold blood and we did that. I’m extremely happy for us, for the three points and for all Sampdoria fans, who will be celebrating tonight. [Manolo] Gabbiadini found the right moment to pounce.”
Ranieri also looked ahead to the Blucerchiati’s next game and the small matter of facing champions Juventus.
“Let’s enjoy the three points and the win and then think about Juventus,” he said. “It would be amazing to get a result against them too.”
