Ekdal plays as Sweden secure Euro 2020 berth, Thorsby watches Norway win
It was two wins from two as Albin Ekdal’s Sweden and Morten Thorsby’s Norway picked up three points in their respective Euro 2020 qualifying matches.
For Sweden, a victory away in Romania on Friday guaranteed the team a place at the tournament, with second place in Group F secured. In Bucharest, Ekdal and his team-mates picked up a 2-0 victory, thanks to first-half goals from Marcus Berg and Robin Quaison. Their final qualifier is against the Faroe Islands, which will take place on Monday in Solna.
It was against the Faroe Islands that Norway picked up a 4-0 home win; however, despite the three points, the team has fallen short of Sweden and Spain at the top of Group F. With little to play for, Thorsby – who was on the bench against the Faroe Islands – and his team-mates will take on Malta on Monday.
