Thorsby delighted with debut: “It’s a special moment for me”
Claudio Ranieri decided that Morten Thorsby deserved an opportunity in Sampdoria’s trip to the Paolo Mazza on Monday. The midfielder, who became the 23rd player from the squad to be used this season, also became the first ever Norwegian to wear the Blucerchiati shirt. He was a key performer in what was a crucial away win for Doria.
Speaking after the game, he said: “I’m really happy. For myself, the team, the fans, everyone – it was very important.
“Given the situation, it was a very important and tough game, but I think we put in a very good performance, away from home. SPAL are a good side and strong at home. The first half was difficult for us. We struggled a bit but the second half went better.
“Things are improving every day for me, both in terms of football and the language. It’s very different to where I was. Today is a special moment for me.”
