Bonazzoli: “Our season starts now, happy to do my bit”
Federico Bonazzoli continued his positive start to the 2019/20 season with a lively 25 minutes in Samp’s 0-0 draw with Roma at Marassi on Sunday afternoon.
After the game, we caught up with the 22-year-old forward to get his thoughts on the performance.
“I’m happy – I’ve been wanting to do my bit since the first year I joined so I’m pleased and I hope to continue in this vein,” said Bonazzoli. “Samp is my big chance: three months ago I was relegated from Serie B with Padova, so it’s not easy to be thrust into a club like this, but it’s exactly what I wanted. Now I need to make sure I step up and put the team first.”
Bonazzoli believes the Blucerchiati can kick on now under the stewardship of Claudio Ranieri.
“We have a new coach and we’re all ready to push in the same direction for a great leader,” he said. “We just need the right moment, the right chance. We performed well today and I think we would have been well deserving of the three points. Our season starts now. We need to keep this up, take it game by game and give 100%.”
