Bereszynski helps Poland seal Euro 2020 place, Colley’s Gambia win on penalties
There were two wins from two for the Sampdoria players involved in international duty on Sunday.
Bartosz Bereszynski started and played the full 90 minutes as Poland beat North Macedonia 2-0 to seal their place at UEFA Euro 2020 with two games to spare. The Poles dominated the entire game but were made to wait until 74 minutes for the opener from Frankowski, before Milik added the second six minutes later.
Omar Colley’s Gambia needed penalties to see of Djibouti in the second leg of their African Cup of Nations qualifier in Banjul. Having overcome the flu that kept him out of the first leg, the Doria defender started the game and played the full 90 minutes. Gambia fell behind from the spot on 10 minutes, before equalising through Jallow in the third minute of first-half stoppage time and eventually prevailing 3-2 in the shoot-out.
