Bereszynski’s Poland win, draws for Colley and Chabot
Bartosz Bereszynski, Omar Colley and Julian Chabot recorded a win and two draws with their respective national teams on Thursday.
Poland cruised to a 3-0 victory in their Euro 2020 qualifier against Latvia, Robert Lewandowski helping himself to a hat-trick (9, 13, 76) in Riga. Bartosz Bereszynski was an unused substitute but will hope to feature at some point on Sunday when the Poles – currently two points ahead of Austria – host North Macedonia looking to hold onto top spot in Group G.
Omar Colley was ruled out of Gambia’s Africa Cup of Nations preliminary round first-leg qualifier away to Djibouti due to flu, but his team-mates secured a 1-1 draw thanks to a late goal by Sanneh (90) after Mbye’s own goal (59) had given the hosts the lead. The second leg is to be played on Sunday.
Germany U21s visited reigning champions Spain and came away from the Estadio Bernabeu with a creditable 1-1 draw (Garcia 10, Schlotterbeck 32). Julian Chabot played one half of the match.
