Five international call-ups for Sampdoria players
Five Sampdoria players have been called up for international duty as domestic action pauses over the next week or so.
Poland – Bartosz Bereszynski is in the Group G leaders’ squad for their two UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers against Latvia (Riga, 10 October) and North Macedonia (Warsaw, 13 October). Karol Linetty was granted permission to miss international duty due to injury.
Czech Republic – Jakub Jankto has been called up for the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier against Group A leaders England (Prague, 11 October), with the Czechs currently sitting in second place, three points behind the Three Lions. The Czechs also have a friendly against Northern Ireland in Prague on 14 October.
Sweden – Albin Ekdal has been selected for Sweden’s UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers against Malta (Ta’ Qali, 12 October) and Spain (Solna, 15 October). Ekdal will be looking to move closer to the 50-cap milestone, having made 47 appearances for the Swedes so far.
Gambia – Omar Colley is in the Gambia squad for their double-header against Djibouti in the preliminary round of Africa Cup of Nations 2021 qualifying (first game in Djibouti City on 9 October, second game in Banjul on 13 October).
Germany U21s – Julian Chabot has been called up by the Germany U21s squad for their friendly against Spain (Cordoba, 10 October) and the key European Under-21 Championship against Bosnia & Herzegovina (Zenica, 15 October).
