Samp beaten in Florence
After Sunday’s victory over Torino, Sampdoria crashed back down to earth with a bump as Fiorentina edged the win in Florence despite Doria’s valiant late efforts.
Trailing 2-0 to goals by German Pezzella and Federico Chiesa and playing a man light following Jeison Murillo’s second yellow card, Eusebio Di Francesco’s men managed to halve the arrears through substitute Federico Bonazzoli with ten minutes of normal time left to play. The youngster initially headed against the post but pounced on the rebound and slammed home for his first-ever goal in Serie A. However, with the home crowd and an extra man against them, the Blucerchiati were unable to find a second and grab a share of the spoils.
