Di Francesco: “At Fiorentina I want the same attitude we showed against Torino”

Eusebio Di Francesco has called for a repeat of the performance Sampdoria produced in their 1-0 win over Torino when the Blucerchiati face Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence on Wednesday night.

Di Francesco was speaking from the FIGC technical centre in Coverciano, where the squad are training today and staying over this evening.

“We decided to come over a few hours early to recoup our energy as well as possible,” said the Doria coach. “We wanted to evaluate a couple of the players who were involved on Sunday and prepare well for the Fiorentina game.”

Di Francesco wants to see a similar attitude to the one that helped his side record their first win of the season at the weekend.

“I may make some personnel changes from the Torino game, but regardless of who plays our attitude must remain the same,” he said. “We need to be balanced and show a desire to stay in games for the whole season, just like we did in the Torino match.”

Fiorentina might be bottom of the Serie A table with just two points so far, but Di Francesco is not being fooled by the Viola’s early-season form.

“Fiorentina have got less then they’ve deserved,” he said. “They have some good players and have brought in a top-class player and a leader in [Franck] Ribery. I think we have to show maximum focus because the current league table doesn’t reflect the true quality of the opposition.”
