New signing Thorsby: “I’m a box-to-box midfielder”
Morten Thorsby is finally in Genoa, having signed his Sampdoria contract on 11 January and, after a six-month wait, is now ready to embark on a new adventure with the club. “Coming to Sampdoria wasn’t a difficult choice. It’s a huge club, with so much history and the most beautiful kit in the world,” the midfielder told the club’s media team in Italian, having studied the language to prepare himself in the best possible way for this new adventure. “Playing in Serie A is a dream come true. What sort of player am I? A dynamic box-to-box midfielder. I like to get into the box and score goals, but I also contribute a lot in defence.”
“It’s really special to be the first Norwegian player at Sampdoria and something I respect,” added the 23-year-old. “I’ll do everything to give a good impression for Norwegian players’ sake. When I was young, like a lot of Scandinavians, I watched the Premier League and my team was Arsenal, with players like [Tomas] Rosicky and Abou Diaby. They were my stars and the ones I looked up to, but, of course, I also watched Serie A and the players here, so it’s really special to be here. I’m really looking forward to beginning to work on the pitch alongside my new team-mates.”
