Giampaolo: “The best way to finish in front of our fans”
There was no better way to round off the season than by beating the champions, and Marco Giampaolo was a happy man after watching his side’s 2-0 triumph against Juventus.
“We’ve finished with a win against Juventus in front of our fans, which is not a bad way to sign off,” the coach began, before paying credit to the Marassi faithful
“The fans have always got behind us and they did again today – they deserved the win. I’ve always said our fans are incredible. I’ve never heard them complain or boo a player. They’re always there driving us on. They’re amazing. I didn’t want to create a scene by going over to salute them; it was just my way of thanking them.”
The boss went on to praise his players for the season they’ve had.
“The lads have done well. They’re good footballers, professional footballers. They were motivated by the opposition we were up against today and we’re happy because we’ve beaten Juve twice in a row here now.
“We had some highs and lows but the players have been superb. Could we have a bit better or worse? I can tell you we worked hard every day to bring joy to our fans.”
