Rafael upbeat after Chievo clean sheet: “I’m happy here”
Rafael Cabral made his debut in Sampdoria’s clash with Chievo on Sunday, keeping a clean sheet. However he expressed disappointment that his team failed to get more than a point against their already-relegated opponents.
Speaking after the match, he said: “Unfortunately, we failed to win today. We tried everything but just couldn’t get that goal, so we leave disappointed.
“We dreamed of qualifying for the Europe League – it’s a shame because we’d have deserved it for what we’ve done for most of the season.
“We shouldn’t be looking backwards, however – we need to look to the future. Sampdoria are a big side – we want more than finishing in the top 10.
“I’ve worked hard to get more opportunities – the goalkeeper position is different to others. It’s up to the boss to decide and I respect his choices.
“Everyone wants to play, of course. However, I’m happy here – the club, team and staff are all great.”
