Giampaolo disappointed with ‘ordinary’ display against Empoli
Marco Giampaolo was understandably disappointed after his team’s 2-1 defeat on Sunday afternoon at the hands of Empoli.
Speaking after the match, he said: “In essence it was an even game, but Empoli seemed to have more nervous energy than we did, because this was a game they needed to win.
“We helped them on their way. I’m angry about that – it’s not acceptable.
“I want to make sure we’re not just ordinary – it results in flat performances, where we don’t rise to the challenge or make that jump up in quality.
“If we went back three years, we’d say we’ve done good things over this three-year period, in every sense.
“However the team needs to be able to muster up that motivation necessary, so they can take to the field every day to add building blocks.”
