Giampaolo: “Right to celebrate but we need to focus on Bologna”
Understandably delighted with his side’s victory in the Genoa derby, coach Marco Giampaolo underlined the importance of the team’s preparations for the match.
He said: “I expected this kind of game – that’s how we’d prepared for it. These are tense encounters. But the team did very well in handling the pressure. They gave Genoa few chances.
“It’s okay to celebrate and it’s right for our fans to do so, because I know the joy the team has been able to give them. However we need to think about the game on Saturday. We need to go to Bologna with the right approach.”
Finally, on his record in derby matches, the coach added: “It’s something I’m very happy with. It’s risky though, because you need to keep meeting those standards and performances. But for now, we can enjoy this – myself, the team, the club.”
