Samp step up derby prep with double training session

Sampdoria stepped up their preparations for the Genoa derby this weekend with a double training session, which was attended by vice president Antonio Romei and sporting director Carlo Osti. In the morning the players did some tactical drills, divided into groups by their positions, on the second pitch at the Mugnaini. In the afternoon, Marco Giampaolo’s players had a technical and tactical session on pitch number 1.

Albin Ekdal returned to training with his team-mates, alongside Gianluca Caprari, who is working his way back to re-join the squad. Joachim Andersen was in the swimming pool, while Júnior Tavares has an individual training session in the gym. Edgar Barreto continued his personal recovery programme.

Five players from the Samp Academy joined in with the training: Alex Campeol, Tommaso Farabegoli, Giuliano Maglie and Jamie Yayi Mpie from the Primavera, as well as Simone Trimboli from the U17s.

The squad will have another training session in the afternoon on Thursday.
