European Qualifiers: Praet makes late sub appearance in Belgium win
It was a positive Sunday for the national teams including Sampdoria players, with two wins and one draw for those involved in Euro 2020 qualifiers, but less positive on an individual level.
Belgium (Group A). Dennis Praet was the only Sampdoria player to get any time out on the field. He came on in the 89th minute of Belgium’s 2-0 win in Cyprus, earned by first-half goals from Eden Hazard and Michy Batshuayi.
Poland (Group G). Karol Linetty and Bartosz Bereszynski’s side earned a satisfactory 2-0 win over Latvia, thanks to late goals from Robert Lewandowski and Kamil Glik. Linetty was on the bench throughout, while Bereszynski was side-lined with a flu virus that hit numerous members of the squad.
Slovenia (Group P). Vid Belec was on the bench as his side drew 1-1 with Macedonia, following their draw with Israel. Miha Zajc scored the opener for Slovenia, with Enis Bardhi getting the equaliser.
