Poland got their UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying campaign off to a positive start with a 1-0 win away to Austria in Group G. Krzysztof Piątek scored the only goal of the game in the 69th minute; Bartosz Bereszynski played the full 90, picking up a booking in the 55th minute, while Karol Linetty remained on the bench.
Dennis Praet also watched on, as Belgium saw off Russia 3-1 at home in Brussels, beginning their Group I campaign on the right foot.
Vid Belec was on the bench for the 1-1 draw between Israel and Slovenia in Group P in Haifa.
Joachim Andersen received a full senior debut for Denmark in a 2-2 draw with Kosovo in Pristina.
In under-21 football, Emil Audero produced a man-of-the-match performance in Italy’s goalless draw with Austria in Trieste and Ronaldo Vieira came on in the 65th minute in England’s 3-1 loss to Poland in Burton upon Trent.
