Caprari’s comeback: gym, pool and bike work for speedy return
Where winners differ from losers is the way they respond to twists of fate – and Gianluca Caprari has responded to his injury setback “like a lion”, according to Sampdoria rehabilitation coach Umberto Borino.
The striker, who sustained a fibula fracture in training on 23 January, has been putting in the overtime in a bid to get back to fitness as quickly as possible: gym, pool and bike work, and running to start again soon.
“It could have been worse because at least it didn’t affect the ankle ligaments,” Caprari reveals. “I was really angry at first but then I reacted and dealt with it, thanks to the support of my family and girlfriend, and the Sampdoria coaching and medical staff.
“It’s tough having to sit on the sidelines but I’m working hard to be able to give my team-mates a hand in the run-in.”
