Gabbiadini picks up where he left off: “Nothing has changed”
Manolo Gabbiadini’s last goal in a Sampdoria shirt before he left the club back in 2015 came against Udinese – so it was only fitting that the first goal of his second spell at Marassi was also scored against the team from Udine.
“We played our game the way we wanted and everything worked perfectly,” he said after the game. “We got the three points and that’s what was important. My last goal came against Udinese and I scored again today – four years have passed in the meantime but nothing has changed.”
Next up for Samp are Napoli, in another twist of fate for Gabbiadini, who spent two years with the Azzurri before joining Southampton in the Premier League.
“I had a good two years there and scored some great goals – some of the best in my career,” he said. “But now I’ll go there with Samp to produce a good performance and get the three points.”
