Giampaolo: “Coppa not a shortcut into Europe. We want to progress”

The Blucerchiati face a fourth-round Coppa Italia tie with SPAL tomorrow night at the Marassi and, ahead of the game, Marco Giampaolo spoke exclusively to the Samp media team.

“Many see the Coppa Italia as a shortcut into Europe, but it’s not really a shortcut. To keep our run going, which is what we’re aiming to do, we all need to give our best – those on the pitch and those in the stands, and I know there’ll be a lot of fans in attendance,” he said.

Changes to the Doria line-up are expected on Tuesday night, with the coach underlining the importance of giving chances to those who “for five months  have trained seriously and, even during training, shown respect for the shirt they’re wearing”.
