Nations League: Bereszynski’s Poland draw in Portugal. Sweden promoted without Ekdal
The final evening of UEFA Nations League fixtures produced mixed results for the two Sampdoria players still involved with their respective countries.
Bartosz Bereszynski’s Poland, who were already relegated from Nations League A Group 3, ended their campaign with a second consecutive draw.
The hosts took the lead at the Estadio Henriques in Guimaraes courtesy of Andre Silva’s 34th-minute strike but were reduced to ten men shortly after the hour mark when Danilo Pereira saw red for felling Arek Milik in the area. The Napoli striker then equalised from the spot (66).
The Samp full-back played the full game, producing a solid performance on his 16th appearance for the senior Poland team.
Elsewhere Sweden secured promotion to League A after beating Russia 2-0 to finish above their rivals on head-to-head results.
Viktor Lindelhof (41) and Marcus Berg (72) netted the goals which saw the Swedes top League B Group 2.
Albin Ekdal did not play any part in the match but watched his team-mates from the stands.
