Kownacki and Poland set for Euro U21 play-off against Portugal
Dawid Kownacki’s Poland will face off against their Portuguese counterparts for a place in next year’s European Under-21 Championship, following today’s draw in Nyon.
Poland qualified for the play-offs as one of the four best runners-up after finishing a point behind Denmark in Group 3.
Kownacki, who was the top scorer in qualifying with ten goals in nine games, will lead his country out as captain in a two-legged tie in November.
The first leg is to be played in Poland on Monday 12th, with the return leg in Portugal on Tuesday 20th.
The winners will be joined by the winners of the other play-off between Greece and Austria, the nine group winners – Croatia, Spain, Denmark, England, Germany, Belgium, Serbia, Romania and France – and hosts Italy at the finals, which will take place between 16 and 30 June 2019.
