Giampaolo: “Good football always pays off. This win is for Walter”
Marco Giampaolo dedicated Samp’s stunning 5-0 win away at Frosinone on Saturday night to the recovering Walter Sabatini.
“On behalf of the coaching staff and all the players, I dedicate this win to Walter – it’s a shame he wasn’t here to enjoy it with us,” he said.
Although quick to stress that it wasn’t the perfect performance from Doria, Giampaolo praised the way his team went about the game against Frosinone, particularly in the second half.
“We didn’t manage the lead very well,” said the coach. “That said, we kept playing football and it paid dividends in the end. We played very well in the second half and helped each other out without conceding.”
Giampaolo insisted that his team would be putting the win behind them quickly to focus on challenges to come.
“In ten minutes we’ll have other things to think about than this win, because we’re going to be playing twice a week,” he said. “We’re working hard to improve and play better in every game. We have to prove the stats wrong – especially those that say we fall short away from home. We’re only at the beginning of the season and we have plenty of away games to play – let’s see what we can achieve.”
