Nations League: Sweden stunned by Turkey comeback after Ekdal goes off

Albin Ekdal’s Sweden were denied an inaugural UEFA Nations League win as Turkey came from behind and snatched victory at the death in Solna.

Sweden, in Group 2 of Nations League B, looked set for the three points until the 89th minute, before the result was cruelly flipped around.

Goals by Isaac Kiese Thelin (35) and Victor Claesson (49) had put the hosts in the driving seat but Hakan Calhanoglu (51) quickly halved the deficit. Emre Akbaba (89, 90+3) then produced a late double whammy to stun the home crowd.

Sampdoria midfielder Ekdal started the game and put on a decent display before making way for Oscar Hiljemark with the score at 2-1.
