Colley: “Thank you President Ferrero. I want to be the leader of the new Samp”
Sampdoria had been keen to snap him up for at least a year, and Omar Colley only had eyes for Liguria. Now, at last, the ex Genk defender, captain of the Gambian national side, will join up with Marco Giampaolo’s team.
“It’s an honour to become part of this great family,” recounted the defender in his first statement as a Samp player. “I’d like to thank Club President Massimo Ferrero, who did everything he could to make sure I made it here to Samp, the high point of my career. I’m a high-character footballer, I like to be a leader out on the pitch, helping my team to concede as few goals as possible, and get positive results.”
