Road to World Cup, Strinic positive on Croatia’s chances

Ivan Strinic’s first World Cup memory goes back to 1998, when Croatia’s performance at France 98 was cause for celebration across the country, as the team finished third and Davor Suker won the golden boot.

Speaking to Samp TV as part of the channel’s Road to World Cup series, he says: “Every time I put on the national team jersey, it’s something to be proud of. Playing at the World Cup is the high point for anyone child dreaming of being a footballer.”

He adds that his side is hopeful of advancing from a group that contains Argentina, Iceland and Nigeria, and then competing with whoever comes next.

“We’re a very good side, with many quality players from the best sides in Europe. Lots of teams could win it, but we’re going to Russia to do so,” he commented.
