Silvestre and Zapata strike at snowy Marassi to see off Udinese

A rare Matias Silvestre strike and a peach of a goal by Duvan Zapata saw Sampdoria bounce back from defeat to AC Milan with a hard-fought victory over Udinese at a snowy Stadio Ferraris on Sunday afternoon.

The Argentine centre-back opened his Doria account when he fired through a crowd from a corner in the first half.

The Colombian then added a sensational second after coming on as a second-half substitute, carrying the ball the length of the pitch before finishing with a sublime lob into the far corner.

Massimo Oddo’s side reduced the arrears in stoppage time when Ali Adnan’s cross-shot spun off Silvestre and looped up over Emiliano Viviano but Doria weren’t to be denied.
