Barreto looks back on impressive performance: “I dedicate this goal to my family”

Edgar Barreto produced a perfect midfield performance as Samp beat Hellas Verona 2-0 on Sunday, putting in the hard yards and making Doria tick – a headed goal to give his side the lead was just the icing on the cake.

“We had lots of chances in the first half but it might have got tricky had we not found the breakthrough,” said the Paraguayan after the game. “We did well to score at the start of the second half and then we showed good game management. I dedicate the goal to my family – they’re always right behind me and they give me strength.”

Next up for Samp is a Europa League showdown against AC Milan – and the Paraguayan is looking forward to the challenge.

“The Rossoneri are having a great spell, but we know what we want to achieve,” he said. “We’ll show them respect, but we’ll try to play our game and bring the points home.”
