Sampdoria and Torino share the spoils at Marassi
Sampdoria had to settle for a point after an intensely fought encounter with Torino at Marassi saw Lucas Torreira’s early free kick cancelled out by Afriyie Acquah’s deflected effort.
The Uruguayan took his Serie A tally to four for the season with a cunning rehearsed set piece involving a couple of Samp players in the wall.
13 minutes later, former Doria man Acquah’s strike from the edge of the box took a lucky ricochet off Gianmarco Ferrari to leave Emiliano Viviano with no chance.
While Torino perhaps had the better chances in the first half, Samp were in the ascendancy after the break but were unable to find a winner despite piling on the pressure late on.
