Bereszynski: “We matched one of the big teams but we’re not happy with the result”

Bartosz Bereszynski admitted that Sampdoria were disappointed not to beat Roma after the visitors nicked a late equaliser to deny the Blucerchiati all three points at Marassi on Wednesday night.

“It’s a shame it ended in a draw,” said the Pole in the mixed zone after the final whistle. “We played really well tonight against a strong opponent in Roma. We should have won it. We had the chances to score the second goal after the break, but we ended up conceding at the death.”

Bereszynski was keen to take the positives after another impressive Sampdoria performance, but there was denying the frustration in the full-back’s voice.

“We’re pleased that we produced such a good performance, but at the same time we’re disappointed that we’ve only got the one point,” he said. “We need to take it game by game, starting from Sunday night. It’s going to be tough [to stay in sixth], but we just need to focus on resting up. When we get back in training we’ll think about the next game against Roma.”
