Samp exit Coppa Italia on ‘penalties’ to Fiorentina

Sampdoria were knocked out of the Coppa Italia “on penalties” by Fiorentina after three were awarded in the second half – one for Samp and two for the Viola. It ended 3-2, with Jordan Veretout netting the 90th-minute winning spot kick.

Khouma Babacar and Edgar Barreto cancelled each other out in the opening 45 minutes before Veretout (twice) and Gaston Ramirez converted from 12 yards after the restart.
