Barreto: “Getting knocked out is a real shame – we want to get back to winning ways”
Edgar Barreto was one of the protagonists of Sampdoria’s 3-2 loss at Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia. He scored a first-half equaliser to make the scores 1-1 and was one of Doria’s most dangerous players.
However, following the late defeat, he was unable to hide his disappointment: “It’s a real shame, particularly after that penalty so late in the game – there was no time for us to react.
“At the beginning we weren’t clinical enough – but we didn’t give too much away. In the second half we did better and deserved a bit more luck.
“It’s a bitter pill to swallow, because we conceded two goals from penalties – getting eliminated this way really hurts.
“Now we need to really roll up our sleeves and try to get back to winning ways. We want to pick up three points in the league – we’ll do our best to prepare for the game against Sassuolo.
“Tonight was tough – we had to chase the game and gave a great deal. Now we’ll rest and go again.”
