Cup specialist Kownacki: “Most important thing was to win, now for the last 16”

Dawid Kownacki was in no mood for resting on his laurels after scoring a brace to fire Sampdoria into the Coppa Italia last 16, where they will take on Fiorentina.

“The most important thing was to win today, especially for the players who haven’t played as much” the Doria No.99 told Samp TV after the game. “The Coppa Italia is a great way to show what we can do. We want to go as far as possible – all the way to the final.

“We’ll be up against a good Fiorentina side in the last 16, but I can’t wait to play them. At the end of the day, I’ve already scored at the Franchi in the Europa League.”

Kownacki has now found the net five times in just 179 minutes’ play, which works out as one goal every 35 minutes.

“I think the goalkeeper made a bit of a mistake for the second goal, but a goal is a goal – right?” said the Pole.
